This Privacy Policy explains how the Junk Clean & File Manager Team (the “Junk Clean Team”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you use the Junk Clean & File Manager mobile application for Android (“Junk Clean” or the “App”). It covers what information is involved, why it is needed, which partners receive it, how long it is kept, and the choices and rights available to you. By using the App, you acknowledge the practices described here.
At a glance
- Your files and photos stay on your device
- No account or sign-up needed
- We do not sell your personal information
- Permissions are optional and can be withdrawn
- EU users control ad consent in Settings
1Our Approach to Your Data
Junk Clean is a storage, security, and device utility. Most of what it does — finding junk files, browsing your media, reading power and hardware status, and showing usage statistics — happens entirely on your device, and that content stays where it is. The App does not require an account, and we do not ask for your name, phone number, email address, or contacts in order to use it.
Some technical information does leave your device so that the App can run security scans, show and measure ads, attribute installs, understand how features are used, and run network speed tests. Those flows are described below, together with the partners involved.
2Processing That Stays on Your Device
The following information is accessed and processed locally, only to deliver the feature you are using. It is not sent to our servers, and we do not have access to it.
| Feature | Information accessed locally |
|---|---|
| Junk and cache scanning | Names, paths, sizes, and types of cache, residual, and temporary files. |
| Messaging app media | Cached images, videos, and other files stored on your device by third-party messaging applications. The content of your conversations is not read. |
| File management | Your videos, images, audio, documents, large files, and downloads; visual similarity between photos; and image details such as embedded location metadata (EXIF). |
| Notification management | The title and source application of notifications currently in your notification shade, so they can be listed and dismissed. |
| App usage and data traffic | Time spent in, launches of, and mobile and Wi-Fi data used by each application, as reported by Android. |
| Wi-Fi checks | Details of the Wi-Fi network you are connected to, such as network name and gateway, used for ARP, DNS, and SSL checks. |
| Power and hardware information | Charge level, power health, voltage, temperature, processor, storage, memory, screen, and sensor information. |
| Settings | Your in-app preferences, such as temperature unit. |
When you choose to remove files, the deletion happens on your device. We cannot restore files you have removed.
3Security Scanning Engine
The malware and threat scan uses the antivirus SDK provided by Trustlook. To produce a security risk report, the SDK examines metadata about the applications installed on your device — such as package names, version information, and application signatures or file hashes — and may send this metadata to Trustlook’s servers for analysis against its threat database. The scan does not read or upload the contents of your personal files, photos, or messages.
Trustlook processes this information under its own privacy policy, listed in Section 8.
4Information We Obtain
Separately from the on-device processing above, the following information may be gathered automatically by us or by the SDK partners listed in Section 8:
- Device and technical details — device platform and model, Android version, language and region settings, screen size, App version, and the version of SDK or API code in use;
- Identifiers — the Android Advertising ID, application identifiers, and device identifiers associated with the Advertising ID or generated by partner SDKs;
- Network information — IP address, network type, and mobile carrier, from which an approximate (city- or country-level) location may be inferred;
- Usage data — App opens, screens viewed, features used, and timestamps of activity;
- Diagnostic data — crash reports, error logs, and performance metrics;
- Advertising and attribution data — ad requests, impressions, clicks, and information about how you came to install the App;
- Installed-app metadata — as described in Section 3, for security scanning;
- Consent records — the choices you make in the consent dialog or under EU Data Preferences;
- Speed test data — your IP address and test traffic exchanged with a test server when you run a speed test;
- Information you send us — if you contact support, your email address, any name you choose to include, and the content of your message. Providing these is entirely optional.
What we do not gather: the contents of your files, photos, videos, or messages; your contacts, call logs, SMS, or email; or any payment card details. Your Advertising ID is used to serve and measure advertising and is not combined with information that directly identifies you.
5Permissions and Their Purposes
The App asks for each permission at the point where a feature needs it. Every permission is optional; declining one only affects the related feature.
| Permission | Why it is requested |
|---|---|
| Storage | To find, display, and remove junk files, messaging app media, large files, and similar photos that you select, and to browse your files. |
| Location (precise and approximate) | Android requires location permission to read details of the Wi-Fi network you are connected to. It is used only for Wi-Fi security checks. We do not use it to track your movements, and we do not store your location. |
| Network / Internet | To run security scans, speed tests, and Wi-Fi checks, and to connect to advertising, attribution, and analytics services. |
| Usage access | To display app usage time, launch counts, and per-app data traffic. |
| Notifications | To list and dismiss accumulated notifications at your request, and to show App alerts such as scan results. |
| Foreground services | To keep a scan or removal running while it is in progress, with a visible notification. |
| Vibration | To provide haptic feedback, for example when a scan finishes. |
You can review or revoke any of these permissions at any time in your device settings or on the App’s permission management page.
6Why We Use Information
We use the information described in Sections 3 and 4 to:
- provide, operate, and maintain the App’s storage, security, and utility features;
- generate security risk reports for installed applications;
- display advertising, including, where you have allowed it, ads tailored to your interests;
- measure advertising and marketing effectiveness and attribute App installs;
- understand how features are used so that we can improve them;
- detect, diagnose, and fix crashes and performance problems;
- detect and prevent security threats, fraud, and abuse, including invalid ad traffic;
- record and honor your consent choices;
- respond to your support requests;
- comply with legal obligations.
We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
7Legal Bases (EEA/UK)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract — to provide the features you choose to use, including security scanning;
- Consent — for personalized advertising, advertising attribution, and storing or accessing information on your device for those purposes; you may withdraw consent at any time;
- Legitimate interests — for analytics, crash reporting, security, fraud prevention, and non-personalized advertising, balanced against your rights and interests;
- Legal obligation — where processing is required by law.
8Third-Party SDK Partners
The App integrates software development kits (SDKs) from the partners below. They may collect and process data as described in Section 4, under their own privacy policies.

If you have not consented to personalized ads, or have opted out, ads may still appear but will rely on limited, contextual information.
9When Information Is Disclosed
We do not sell your personal information, and we have not sold personal information in the preceding 12 months. We disclose information only in these circumstances:
- SDK partners — the advertisers, publishers, ad networks, and analytics and measurement companies in Section 8, to serve ads, measure performance, and understand usage in aggregated or pseudonymized form;
- Service providers — those who perform functions for us, such as security scanning, hosting, or crash reporting, under obligations to protect the information;
- Legal and safety reasons — where required by law or a valid request from public authorities, or where reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, the public, or ourselves;
- Business transfers — to a successor in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with this policy continuing to apply to your information;
- With your consent — in any other case where you have agreed.
10How Long Information Is Kept
Information processed on your device stays under your control and is removed when you clear the App’s data or uninstall the App. Information that leaves your device is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes in Section 6:
- technical, usage, advertising, and attribution data collected through partner SDKs is retained according to each partner’s own retention schedule;
- support correspondence is kept for as long as needed to resolve your request, plus a reasonable period afterward;
- information may be kept longer where required for legal, security, or accounting purposes, or to resolve disputes.
When you request deletion, we will delete or anonymize the relevant information within a reasonable period, unless we are required to keep it.
11Safeguards
We apply administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect information, including:
- keeping file contents, media, and app usage data on your device rather than transmitting them;
- encrypting data in transit between the App and our partners;
- limiting internal access to support and diagnostic data on a need-to-know basis;
- regularly reviewing our security practices and the partners we work with.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach that affects your information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities where required by law.
12International Transfers
We and our partners may process and store information on servers outside your country of residence, including in the United States and other countries where our partners operate. Where personal data is transferred from the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland to a country without an adequacy decision, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
13Rights in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you and obtain a copy;
- rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;
- erase your data;
- restrict or object to processing, including profiling for advertising;
- data portability, receiving your data in a structured, machine-readable format;
- be informed when your personal data is shared with third parties;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing;
- lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Because the App has no accounts, we may ask for an identifier such as your Advertising ID to locate data related to your request.
14Rights for California Residents
Under the CCPA/CPRA, California residents have the right to:
- Know the categories of personal information we have collected about you in the preceding 12 months, its sources, and the purposes for which it is collected and disclosed;
- Delete personal information we have collected, subject to exceptions such as security, legal compliance, or completing a transaction;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Opt out of the sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising;
- Non-discrimination — we will not deny you the App, charge different prices, or provide a lower quality of service because you exercised these rights.
To opt out of ad personalization, you can delete or reset your Advertising ID in your device settings, or contact us. Verifiable requests may be submitted by email; we may limit requests to two per consumer in any 12-month period. We respond within 45 days, extendable by a further 45 days where reasonably necessary. If you are between 13 and 16, a parent or guardian may contact us on your behalf.
Residents of other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws may have similar rights and may contact us to exercise them.

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. In some regions the relevant age may be higher. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe this has happened, please contact us.
17Updates to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the App, our partners, or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the Effective Date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you within the App or by another reasonable method. Continued use of the App after an update takes effect means you acknowledge the revised policy.
